Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers

A review of mathematics for grades K-8, at a level beyond its usual presentation in the schools. The purpose of this course is to ensure that teaches have the necessary foundation to teach mathematical concepts and problem solving at the elementary level. Applications of all essential mathematical concepts are presented in abundance, along with methods and strategies for instruction at the elementary level. Restricted to elementary education students, except with approval of the Director of Teacher Education. Prerequisite: two years of high-school mathematics and admission to the Teacher Education program or permission of instructor. Offered Fall semester.
