Professor Jacqueline Leonard: Talk

Teaching Mathematics to Indigenous Students in Canada

This presentation focuses on Dr. Leonard's experiences as the research chair of STEM education at the University of Calgary in 2018. Her research experiences with Indigenous students led to fundamental changes in her research practices. Communities of color should be intimately involved in the narratives that are told about them. Moreover, these communities should benefit from the research that took place in terms of sustainability and practice. This is the basis for equitable research practices as well as equitable STEM education.
