Juan B. Cortes, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Associate with the St. Louis Translational Fellowship in Education. His research broadly focuses on examining how inequality develops in educational outcomes as students navigate through systemic structures. His recent work has involved improving early-warning indicators that identify middle and high school students in need of support as well as examining geospatial access to postsecondary institutions at both the urban and state level contexts. Previously, he conducted research and program evaluation work in K-12 public school systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Education from the Johns Hopkins University where he was also a Graduate Research Assistant at the Baltimore Education Research Consortium. He holds a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor’s in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America.
