Joint Appointment: Department of Education/Center for Applied Statistics
Rank: Assistant Professor
Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor to be jointly held in the Department of Education and the Center for Applied Statistics, in Arts & Sciences. This hire is part of an Applied Statistics initiative in Arts & Sciences. We seek scholars who study education, broadly defined, and have strong skills in the development or use of cutting-edge statistical methods. The successful candidate will also have well-defined theoretical and empirical interests in the field of education. Candidates are encouraged to apply from any relevant social science discipline (e.g., sociology, economics, political science, education, anthropology, criminology, law, or psychology). Individuals whose interests support the Department's strength in urban affairs, from a national or international perspective, are especially welcome. Teaching responsibilities will be divided between the Department and the Center, both to be housed in the Social Science and Law Building, currently under construction on the Danforth Campus. Research responsibilities include conducting and publishing scholarship in quantitative social science disciplines related to education, statistical methods, or related fields, and applying for external grants. Candidates are expected to have Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment.

Department of Education: Literacy Education Lecturer
Non-tenure track
The Department of Education at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a lecturer (non-tenure track) position in literacy education. The position is available in August 2006 or until filled.
This is a two-year non-renewable appointment. The position involves teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in literacy, reading, and courses in teacher education. Some student teacher supervision is required.
The successful candidate must hold a masters degree in reading, literacy, or related field of study, and must have a minimum three years of teaching experience at some level of pre K-12 literacy. An earned doctoral degree is preferred. Eligibility for Missouri reading licensure is required. Applicants must also evidence commitment to teaching.
